Lighting Show Technician

Position Description:

The job and purpose of all CPR employees is to maintain and ensure that the established company policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and safety protocols are adhered to and maintained at all times. The Lighting Show Technician position requires technical skill, knowledge and experience working with professional lighting.  Reports directly to the corresponding department Warehouse Manager while working in the warehouse, and the corresponding department Show Manager when on a job site. As a show technician you will be setting up the latest equipment & systems in preparation of events, staging, striking at the conclusion of events and ensuring equipment is protected and secured during down periods.

Primary responsibilities of a Lighting Show Technician:

  • Participates in set-up, operation and break-down of client shows, including but not limited to, corporate events, tradeshows, exhibits, concerts, theatrical productions, etc.
  • Participates in tracking and monitoring onsite equipment.
  • Programs consoles and produces plots for shows.
  • Coordinates with Lighting Manager on show needs.
  • Ensures all equipment and packages are always 100% complete and show ready.
  • Assists in prepping all equipment to be scanned to outbound orders.
  • Troubleshoots damaged equipment and communicates to Manager on a course of action.
  • Participates and maintains lighting inventory.
  • Maintains a positive and supportive attitude at all times. Reports to Manager of any and all personnel conflicts, grievances from other staff, and any violations of company policies.
  • Assists in training new hires, training existing personnel in company SOPs.
  • Works in Flex Rental Inventory software.
  • On occasion, may be asked to act as a driver.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years experience using industry equipment, not limited to: GrandMA, Hog4, Leprecon and Chamsys consoles; ETC dimmers; Martin, Elation, Clay Paky, Chauvet, Color Kinetic moving and static lights; Ellipsoidals, Fresnels, PARs, Scoops and Blinders; Lycian spotlights; HazeBase and Hanson atmospherics; Genie St-25 and Goliath 5200 lifts.
  • Experience in leading lighting crews on site for load-ins, shows, and load outs.
  • Must be familiar with creating lighting plots with Vectorworks.
  • Knowledge of rigging equipment and practices a plus.
  • Warehouse operations experience a plus including Fork Lift driving and Boom Lift operating; Certified Forklift Operator and/or Boom Lift Operator is a plus.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive vans, small to large box trucks.
  • Ability to load/unload trucks, overhead lifting, lifting over 50lbs, and pushing items over 100lbs on a daily basis.
  • Ability to work days, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must pass criminal background check and have reliable transportation; punctuality required.
  • High School Diploma required; college education preferred with minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in the entertainment production industry.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and Flex Inventory control software knowledge a plus.
